The Coach
Andrés Agudelo
Andrés Agudelo has spent more than twenty years inside the rooms where deals are made — trade agreements between nations, billion-dollar energy contracts, and labor negotiations that others had already walked away from. He is a senior consultant, a trained scriptwriter, a film director, and a negotiation lecturer at institutions including Skema Business School in Paris and the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá.
His work with executives is built on one conviction: language in a negotiation is not decoration — it is structure. A background in film, television, directing, and scriptwriting taught him how dialogue moves, how silence lands, and how the right phrase at the right moment changes the outcome. That is what he brings to every session.
Nine contracts with a major oil company (USD 7B total) — Colombia's energy sector.
Closed a 32-day strike at Carbones del Cerrejón (BHP Billiton) in one week, advising the business side of negotiations with the 4,000-member union.
Colombia's outcomes in the US–Colombia Free Trade Agreement negotiations.
Prepared Trecsa (Bogotá Energy Group) for a dispute resolution process with the Government of Guatemala.
Background
Where the method comes from
Before he was a negotiation consultant, Andrés was a scriptwriter and Programming Manager at City TV (a Canadian franchise in Bogotá) and RCN Television — where his team won the New York Film and Television Festival award for best series. He led an 80-person production team and managed international co-productions across the USA, Europe, and Singapore.
That background is not incidental. Screenwriting is the study of how people talk under pressure — how they persuade, deflect, concede, and close. It is the same architecture as a negotiation. Andrés brought that lens into the boardroom, and it is what makes his coaching different from a language class.
Consulting
Real stakes, real rooms
As a senior consultant at Tandem Insourcing, Andrés has advised on some of the most complex negotiations in Latin America — including the US–Colombia Free Trade Agreement (delivering 85% of Colombia's interests), nine contracts with a major oil company worth USD 7 billion, and the Transmilenio concession negotiations that shaped Bogotá's public transport system.
He has trained negotiating teams of 32 at a major oil company, resolved a 32-day strike at Carbones del Cerrejón (BHP Billiton) in one week, and prepared Trecsa for a USD 600MM dispute resolution process with the Government of Guatemala. His reputation is built on one consistent outcome: win-win results in situations where others had already given up.
